These discs are made in Germany from special stainless steel. They withstand higher temperatures and stresses than the original cast-iron discs and, in normal use, resist cracking far better. The stainless steel allows a 5 mm thickness (weight saving, better cooling); they are also more tolerant of various pad types (including carbon-ceramic and sintered metal).
Fitting
- Once the old discs are removed, make sure the disc-carrier faces (where the disc bolts on) are perfectly clean — essential to avoid any warping. Clean with brake cleaner and a wire brush if needed, without damaging the contact surface.
- Place the disc on its carrier. Fit the contact washer on each bolt, put a drop of "normal" threadlock on the thread, then run each bolt in a few turns. Tighten all the bolts crosswise until they contact, then (still crosswise) to a torque of 10-12 Nm.
- Carefully degrease each face of the disc with brake cleaner and a perfectly clean cloth.
