K&N air filters (fitting 1000/1200)

K&N air filters are cotton-fibre based and last a lifetime, provided they are cleaned and oiled periodically. Fitting on a Laverda 1000 or 1200:

  • Make sure the filter is fully pushed onto the carburettor before tightening the clamp. Tighten it without excess, so as not to distort the rubber socket or partially block the small air holes of the idle and progression circuits (located at the rear of the venturi).
  • The centre filter has to be slightly forced to pass under the frame's spine tube. In very cold weather that stiffens the rubber, warm it gently (heat gun on minimum, or another moderate heat source).
  • Same for the two side filters if they need to be curved slightly inward to clear the side panels.
  • As the Laverda engine needs plenty of air, oil the filters very sparingly (K&N special oil): a light pink tint is enough for perfect filtration without restricting intake.
