Intake thermal spacers (insulators).

  • Re-manufactured in Zytel +, far better suited than some plastics with poor resistance to heat and modern fuels.
  • Given the age of the engines and the uncertainty over past maintenance, it is recommended to apply on both faces of the spacer, outside the O-rings, a small continuous bead (1 mm dia. is enough) of universal engine sealant (Loctite, Bardahl…), to take up any surface irregularity and prevent air leaks.
  • Tighten the intake flanges with Nyloc nuts and, if the stud length allows, Grower-type spring washers. Torque 8-10 Nm maximum.
