Reinforced cylinder-head gasket for Laverda 1000 and 1200 — made by Todd Engineering.
- Gently mount the gasket equally on all studs; do not force one side or the other.
- Lay it flat on the cylinder block, with the O-rings perfectly seated in their bores so they cannot pass over or under the gasket when tightening.
- The O-ring holes are deliberately slightly off-centre from the studs (more material near the copper rings); this does not affect head oil feed.
- On 1000cc models with the small shoulder at the top of the liners, thoroughly clean the shoulders of any scale or residue, then check the copper rings are perfectly in place on top of the block.
Important: the top of the liners sits originally about 0.1 mm below the block's gasket face. It must be as flush as possible, never above. If it protrudes (after changing/repositioning the liners or skimming the block), the head gasket will inevitably leak. Check this point without fail before reassembly.
