Fitting the rearsets (1000/1200)

NB: These instructions are given for guidance only and cannot engage the author's liability in the event of misinterpretation, failure to assess the vehicle's actual condition and/or non-conformity, unsuitable mechanical practice or the use of inappropriate tools.

Fitting the rearset kit — Laverda 1000 and 1200.

  1. Remove the original footpegs.
  2. Remove the brake pedal and gear lever.
  3. Stick a piece of insulating tape on the rearset half-plates to protect the frame.
  4. Fit the half-plates, holding them with the small countersunk M6 screw, not tightened at this stage.
  5. Grease the rearset pins and bushes. Refit the parts in order, not forgetting the washers.
  6. Mount the rearsets on the half-plates. Firmly tighten the 17 mm Nyloc nut (on the left side, a cranked open spanner reaches the nut without removing the brake-pedal linkage).
  7. Fit the linkages then the connecting rods, and set the rod length to your preference. Recheck that all fasteners are tight.
  8. Test both controls before any road test.
